Halloween Dance

Posted in School by xoxo-hillary-xoxo on the October 31, 2006

Hey!

Wow last night was a lot of fun!!! The dance was really great, and I got to dance with my friends, it was really cool, and with guys to

At the beginning of the dance, I was just standing there and not dancing at all, but then I satrted to loosen up and was dancing to some good tunage, and aftera while I wasn’t letting anyone sit there or stand there. I was dancing around and if I saw someone in my age group sitting there i would move them a little, and I would try and get everyone sitting down back up.

The music was okay, but some of the songs sucked, I thought. There was about like 8 slow songs, and I dance with 8 guys. Me and my friends had so much fun!

I had so much fun, and some other stuff went on before the dance, and I was really sad about it all, but at the dance all of that stuff went to the back of my mind.

I defintly think we should have a month end dance every month, because everybody loves the dances!!

I have to say the cookies at the dance were pro, Becky and Brittany made awesome cookies!!!

Mr. Fisher was a chaperone for the dance to  It was cool becuase the chaperones just stand there and they dont come and lecture you and stuff, unless your like running around and hanging off the nets and what not.

Awesome job putting the dance together Student Council!!

ALSO ONE MORE AWESOME THING…. LAST NIGHT THE DANCE MADE $200 AND THEN THEY DOUBLED IT AND  SO NOW $400 IS GOING TO UNICEF!!!!!!!!!  IN CASE YOU NEVER SAW THAT WORD…. UNICEF! I AM SO HAPPY ABOUT THAT, AND PLUS WE MADE ABOUT $185 DOLLARS MORE FOR UNICEF PLUS MONEY TONIGHT FROM TRICK OR TREATING!!! ITS AWESOME BECUASE SUCH A SMALL SCHOOL LIKE US IS MAKING ALL THAT MONEY FOR THEM :D

Have an awesome Halloween

The Ambient Clock

Posted in School by xoxo-hillary-xoxo on the October 31, 2006

Hey!

Its 1:15pm on Halloween day and there is only 8 kids right now, becuase the rest are DITCHING! No lol i’m joking, they are all taking part in the Rangers club haunted house. The haunted house is pretty pro if you ask me

I was just looking around on some student blogs and I went to my friend Aprils blog. Her blog is pro and she is doing an amazing job on it. Anyways… she wrote a post on the Ambient Clock.

In case your wondering what an Ambient clock is, i’ll tell you. The ambient clock is a clock that is based on data from the Google calender, so the events happening can be “glancable.”

On the clock the background colour is going to become changable according to appointments, and the black bars on the outside show sheduled activities, while the little dots show ‘drive times’.

I think that these clocks sound kind of cool, but I defintly would not buy one of these. I’m a very basic girl, because I can act pretty blonde most of the time, and I need something simple. I don’t understand these clocks, but they do sound neat. The first time I needed to use google I had to ask my grade three teacher how to use it, so nevermind me using a google clock, that is way more advanced.

Would you buy one of these ambient clocks?

Nata Villiage

Posted in School by xoxo-hillary-xoxo on the October 26, 2006

Hey there!

This is my second blog post for “required Reading.” I actually enjoyed doing these blog posts on required reading. When we do them the first place I go is Nata Villiage, because I love all their interesting stuff they right, but the stuff on Nata Villiage, also can be really sad becuase its all true!

On Nata Villiage, there was this really sad blog post telling us how that many children there do not own ONE store bought toy. They are all given to them. Some kids have bikes but they don’t have them for long becuase they are shared, and many children from all over use the bikes.

The kids there have to use their own imagination, and make many of their own toys! They make cars and stuff out of aluminium cans and wire. The kids here use their imagination for all their toys, becuase if you haven’t already noticed this country is so poor, and the children and parents have nothing!

If you look at your life, and all the things you have in it, then you look at this blog, it makes you want to think about things, and how you have so much more in one week than they ever will have in their life. Its really sad, and children shouldn’t grow uplike this.

This was a well done blog post, and you should take a look at it.

Our church here every christmas time, has people from all over town donate things such as clothes, school supplies, toys and canned foods etc. to these people out there.

If you know a church in your community that does this save your toys you don’t play with, and the clothes you don’t fit, instead of throwing them away or whatever you do with them, and give them to these children, they deserve and need them!

Required Reading.

Posted in School by xoxo-hillary-xoxo on the October 23, 2006

Hey :D

You know how we have to do 2 blogs posts each week on a certain topic, Mr Fisher picks? Well we have to do two blog posts on our “required reading” in our blog lines.

In Nata Villiage, there is a really good post on PMTCT (prevention of mother to child transmission)! I really enjoy this post because I now know that there is someone out there trying to help the little children from getting HIV/AIDS.

PMTCT is going to be giving medication and formula to prevent the HIV/AIDS virus transmitted from the mother with the infection, to the child.  There are vehicles who are traveling around and giving out a powdered formula call NAN.

You might think that the young children can not get the HIV infection until they are actually born, but it can be transmitted through pregnancy, breast feeding  and delivery.

If your HIV positive, and pregnant you can also take another drug called AZT. You can take this after twenty- four weeks of pregnancy and during labour to prevent the transmission!

Almost all pregnant women in Nata Villiage, and who are HIV positive are using this to keep their children from the disease

Click here to read more about PMTCT if you want to hear more than what Nata Village had to say.

I defintly agree with this becuase, its helping young children who haven’t had a chance to live, live healthy and not living with HIV/AIDS.

Friday Night =)

Posted in School by xoxo-hillary-xoxo on the October 23, 2006

Hey

How was your weekend? Mine was awesome! We had this amazing session all weekend and it rocked.

On Friday night it ened at about 8:30, so me, and a couple other friends decided it was wayyyy to early to go home, and we all headed to the Youth Centre.

The youth centre is a place with snacks, loud music, pool, air hockey just hanging out and other stuff. Its a lot of fun and a safe place for teens to hang out.

We went there and the music was so loud it was awesome! I walked in and I saw someone I didn’t like, and I said I’m gonna go. I was walking out and my friend Jenni was walking to her house, so I walked with her and we went on her computer for like five minutes to see if someone was on but they werent so she said lets go, and we walked back up to the youth centre. We met up with Jeff, Adam and some other person (i forget who) and they annoyed us until the top of the hill. We went back in and got the person I disliked (becuase she is firends with Jenni) and it was just acting normal, and cool. We got into talking, and now we are firends, which is really good becuasse I dont wanna be arguing with anyone! We just walked around and saw a bunch of people.

We went back into the youth Centre, and played pool, and listened to music and talked to a bunch of people. It was a really cool way to spend the night, at about 10:30 I was really tired and decided, since I was up at 8 am and have to wake up at 8 am tomorrow morning, I’m gonna go home to bed.

This is pretty much what I did on Friday night, I had a lot of fun, and can’t wait till next Friday!!!!!

Social

Posted in School by xoxo-hillary-xoxo on the October 19, 2006

Hey!!

Hey there, how are you? I’m good, its quarter after nine in the morning and I’m like full of energy, maybe because I’m excited for that thing today?

In Social we are doing these projects, like I explained before out of 80 marks, and they are turning out to be really good. My good friend Katie did a blog also, and she is doing an amazing job! Here is a blog post from her Social blog. :

In the middle ages a small girls life wasn’t very exciting or fun, but it might be exciting if you were royal or a nobleman’s daughter because then you would get whatever you wanted. But this blog post is going to be about a peasant’s girl’s day and how she lives her life. So in a small peasant girl’s day she would do a lot of different things she would take care of the household like cooking and cleaning, she would take care of her younger sisters, feed the animals, and she would pray with her younger sisters and family. When a peasant girl did all of these things she had to eat sometime too, but when you were a peasant girl you weren’t very wealthy so you couldn’t afford that much food but when they did eat this is what she would eat in one day: for breakfast she would normally have some bread and water, for dinner which often means lunch in our time she would have bread water and fried goose eggs, and finally for supper she would have fried fish, fried goose eggs, and again she would have more bread and water.

As you can see the life for a peasant girl isn’t that much different than a woman’s who would be married but there are some differences. But some of the things that are the same in theses peoples lives is that they both have to clean, cook, pray, and take care of the household. Now when you are walking down the street and you see a poor person just think of what you have and they don’t.

This blog post is about a peasants girls life. Katie did an awesome job on her blog, and I think she is going to get an awesome job! I like how she says “ Now when you are walking down the street and you see a poor person just think of what you have and they don’t.” I like that quote because it makes me think of what I have and other people don’t, and I should be thankful for what I do have and not always wanting everything.

Social Project

Posted in School by xoxo-hillary-xoxo on the October 18, 2006

Heyyy!

Hey, right now its about 9:45 in the morning and everyone is in the computer lab working on a bunch of different things. After this blog post, I am going to work on my social project.

In Social Studies we had to do a project on a topic in Feudal society, the project is out of 80 marks!  I decided to do a blog, from Learnerblogs and an Activity booklet, with activities such as mazes, word searches, crosswords, colouring pages, fill in the blanks and information, on my topic Slaves. My blog sounds like it is written from a female slave, who works with a wealthy snobby family. It has fifteen posts and almost every post has pictures, that have to do with that post. My blog is also based on a bunch of events going on in her life.  To check out my Feudal Europe blog click here
I am also doing an activity booklet, that has games and colouring pages. It will also have some information on Feudal slaves.

This project is due on Monday, and it is out of 80 marks. I decided to make my blog out of 60 marks and my activity booklet out of 20 marks. Check out my blog, and tell me what you think of it

Last Nightttt :)

Posted in School by xoxo-hillary-xoxo on the October 17, 2006

Hey…

Last night was an awesome night! It first started off by walking up to cornerview to get a colouring contest sheet, becuase i’m super cool and entering the colouring contest (H) :P lol, then I went out with 9:45. I was walking around when I met up with Darren and April. We walked up to Franals, and I got a french Vanilla. We walked down to Lanas house, but she ws babysitting next door so we went and sneaked up on her in the window and banged on it, she was all freaked out, then I looked through the door and I saw her give a big sigh of relied, she must have been scared, it was soo funny lol. We talked to her for a couple minutes then we went downtown again. We were walking and someone drove by and they are a crazy driver so April ducked behind me and I was laughing at her.  We met up with Lanas brother Drew, and we walked with him. We walked Darren home, then April home. After that it was just me and drew, and we were just talking and when we walked by my house I went home becuase I was freeezinggg!!! I went in the house and went on the computer for a bit, just enough time to check if anyone good was online, no one was and KErstin had to go to bed so I went out to the kitchen and coloured a colouring sheet :D It was a cat, a bat and a pumpkin with a moon. It was awesome, and I coloured my cat and bat brown. Kalen (kims son) came upstairs and said that my sqirrel had a funny shaped head, and I was all “thats not a sqirell :S Its a cat” and he was laughing at me becuase it was brown and looked like a sqirell, I was all well whatever hes cute. Then I went to bed at like 10:30 because I was bored and had nothing to do, I layed in bed and talked to myself. It was funny becuase I was all “you know whatttt” and then i’d tel lmyself facts, don’t ask:P

Thats pretty much my night..
